Swim Academy

Learn an invaluable life skill

Our well established swim academy runs six days per week and teaches over 4000 children and adults to swim across our five Health and Leisure centres. Our instructors are highly trained and qualified and follow lessons as structured by Swim England. The Swim England Learn to Swim Programme is the leading national teaching syllabus for delivering safe, inclusive and effective swimming lessons for all ages.

Due to high demand, spaces are limited. Simply follow the link below to apply for lessons and a member of our Swim Academy team will be in touch.

Useful information

Read below for some handy frequently asked questions about our Swim Academy.

Will I need to accompany my child?

While participating in swimming lessons it is essential that all parents with children under the age of eight years old remain in the building. Strictly no parents will be allowed to be on poolside with the children while the lesson is taking place, you are welcome to use the pool viewing galleries at each centre

How old does my child have to be?

Our Aquababes lessons are for babies three months to three years. We offer three non-swimmer stages dependent on your child's age,

  • Beginner stage is for children aged three to four years old
  • Stage 1 is for children aged four to seven years old
  • Novice stage is for children over seven years

My child has had swimming lessons in the past; how do I know what stage will suit them best?

Our swim stages are recommended by Swim England. When you apply you will be asked to provide as much information as you can about your child's swimming ability but you may be contacted to discuss your options by one of our dedicated Swim Academy advisors

My child isn't potty trained, can they attend?

Yes, however in the interest of health and hygiene all children who are not toilet trained must wear a swimming nappy when using the pools and are available to purchase from reception

How warm is the pool?

We make every effort to maintain the temperature in our learner pools at 30 degrees and in our main pools at 29 degrees

How much does a course cost?

You can either set up a direct debit with us allowing you to spread the cost of swimming lessons over 11 monthly payments per annum of £26.00 (no direct debit payment will be taken during August) or pay annually with a one off payment of £260.00 at reception

Do lessons run all year?

The lessons will run in line with the Swim Academy calendar, this calendar shows when the lessons will run and when they will break for Easter, Christmas and over the summer holidays and we strongly recommend you download a copy to keep for your reference.

Can I change my mind?

Should you wish to cancel the membership within seven days from your first lesson, we will do so. Refunds will be given less any amount of the membership you have already used. After seven days we ask for a minimum three month commitment, after the three months is up you can cancel at any time

Will my child need to be immunised before they start swimming?

For advice on immunisations, please visit the NHS website

Can I see your terms and conditions?

Yes, please thoroughly ready through our Swim Academy terms and conditions before you apply

My child is ready to start lessons, what do I do next?

Unfortunately at the present time we are unable to take any further Swim Academy applications. We will update our website when this changes.
