We want everyone who visits our website to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding, going above and beyond The Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018.
To help us make our website a positive place for everyone, we've been using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone.
The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA and AAA). We've chosen Level AA as the target for the newforest.gov.uk website.
We're working hard to achieve our goal of Level AA accessibility, but we realise there are some areas that still need improving. The following information explains what we're doing to make that happen.
We have conducted an audit which highlighted the content that needs to be displayed as web content. We are going through the website to fix each one of these.
We are currently reviewing an audit of our website and creating a roadmap to fix any mark-up issues. We will update this statement when this is completed.
We are testing our pop-over content such as the webchat feature to ensure it is fully accessible.
We believe that the vast majority of our content and functionality is operable through a keyboard but we are currently reviewing an audit of our website to ensure this is correct.
We have identified the need to rewrite some of our titles as not all are as descriptive as they can be. This will be part of our roadmap.
We have identified the need to rewrite some of our links as not all are as descriptive as they can be. This will be part of our roadmap.
We have identified the need to rewrite some of our headings and labels as not all are as descriptive as they can be. This will be part of our roadmap.
